Job Description:
Calling all plant and animal lovers! We are seeking an enthusiastic human with a green thumb and a love of animals to help us with our small farm operations in 2023. Opportunity abounds for an individual who is willing to bring their energy to our space and help us as we continue to grow our farm operations here at Tops’l Farm.
We are committed as an organization to work towards a life of simplicity and self-reliance as it pertains to our food systems. We need help in our garden and animal operations to assist with bringing this area of the farm into reality.
We strongly believe that these long-forgotten skills of homesteading, of practical life, and self-sufficiency on the farm and a true connection with the natural world is becoming ever more important to embrace and share. We are taking small, measured steps as we continue to grow our larger hospitality operation and to better connect these aspirational goals to our guest experience.
In 2023 we will continue to focus on our small organic vegetable gardens, edible flowers, and small herd animal husbandry. Knowledge of garden planning, seed starting, permaculture, etc a plus, but not required.
This job will require calloused hands, a strong back and a determination to help bring this farm to life as the weather warms. The right person for this position is passionate about self- sufficiency, eager to inspire others to take the steps in their own lives, is good with people and animals, self-driven, and passionate about creating a sustainable working farm at Tops’l.
Key Job Responsibilities:
Help maintain vegetable and flower gardens (weeding, watering, etc)
Help with daily care & management of small number seasonal farm animals
Repair and renew grounds after heavy usage from events
Perform gardening and landscaping duties as needed
Assist in weekly fluctuations with our sleep operations as needed
Work with event team to set up, break down and store event furniture
Fulfill a specified amount of weekend on-call days to troubleshoot building issues as they occur during guest staysPart of our “greeter” team for arrivals
Keep an eye for guest experience within the landscape and support event team’s décor and infrastructure
Special projectsIn addition to the weekly, seasonal, and as-needed duties listed above, the All Arounder will work closely with the Director of Property and Lodging on special projects in and around the property.
Schedule & Commitment
Part time, 30 (ish) hours a week. For the right individual, additional hours could be available (if desired) on our event team.
